University of Delaware linguist Jeffrey Heinz and mechanical engineer Herbert Tanner are featured in this week's Science Nation, a  science video series commissioned by the National Science Foundation's Office of Legislative and Public Affairs.

Effective September 1, 2011, the Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science will offer undergraduates the opportunity to major in Linguistics. The department already offers a Cognitive Science major, as well as a minor in Cognitive Science, and a minor in Linguistics. With the introduction of a new Major in Linguistics, the degree offerings will be complete and offer opportunities both with the cross-disciplinary field of cognitive science, as well as the more specialized major in linguistics.

Timothy McKinnon has won the 2011 Sypherd Prize for the best dissertation in the Humanities at UD. This is a significant accomplishment and a huge honor.
